The inauguration ceremony of the “9th International Conference on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Traditional Medicine and Triphala International Research Symposium AyurEx Colombo-2023
9th International Conference on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Traditional Medicine (iCAUST 2023) and ‘Triphala’ International Research Symposium was held as a hybrid conference on 8th, 9th, and 10th September, 2023 at BMICH, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The inauguration ceremony was held at 1.00 pm on 8th September, 2023 at BMICH, Colombo. The chief guest, senior professor (chair) H.D.Karunaratne, the Vice-Chancellor, university of Colombo grace the event. Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, the Dean- Faculty of Indigenous Medicine as the chief organizer and Dr. Dammika Abeygunawardhana, Commissioner of Ayurveda, Co-organizer were glamour the event. Professor Bhushan Patwardhan, National research professor for the Ministry of AYUSH, India delivered the Key note speech on ‘Catalyzing ancient wisdom and modern science for the health of people and the planet’. Further, renowned experts related to traditional and natural medical systems from all over the world including USA, Japan, China, Germany, India, UK, Czech Republic shared their knowledge as plenary speakers in the 12 scientific sessions of the conference.
The conference facilitated the renewal and review the traditional health care systems for upcoming health challenges by directing the theme; ‘Traditional knowledge for one health’. It was both exciting and ground-breaking in its multidisciplinary content and facilitated more than 200 scientific papers on various subthemes to enlighten 18 scientific sessions.
One of the key anticipations of this successful conference was to develop scientific communication skills among the FIM undergraduates and expose them to research culture. Therefore, it hosted a student scientific forum and an educational exhibition to unveil the innovations of FIM scholars.
