“Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis in Medical Research: From Concept to Publication,”

Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT & Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, in collaboration with the Academic Mentoring Program of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, is organized an intensive workshop on “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis in Medical Research: From Concept to Publication” on 5th August 2026, with the participation of academic staff members of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine.

Aim of the workshop was to enhance the knowledge and practical skills of academics in conducting high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses, thereby strengthening research capacity, evidence-based practice, and the development of high-quality publishable research.

Dr. Prasad Liyanage (MBBS, PhD), Senior Research Scientist, Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany, and Dr. Prabhath Liyanage, Senior Lecturer – Grade I, Department of Mathematics, University of Colombo, served as resource persons for the workshop.

Through interactive lectures, group discussions, hands-on practical sessions, and software demonstrations, participants could gain practical exposure to the key stages of conducting systematic review and meta-analyses, including the use of relevant research databases and statistical software.
