FIM Enhances the Ayurveda and Herbal Research Through New Industry Partnerships

In a significant move to advance academic research in clinical product development, the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine (FIM) officially signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with key industry partners on June 9, 2025. This collaboration aims to foster innovation within the Ayurveda and herbal sectors.
The signing ceremony, held at the College House Premises, was attended by distinguished guests, including Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Karunathilaka, Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, and the University Registrar. Also present were the coordinator and members of the Unit of Research and Development of Natural Products (URDNP), along with legal officers and other staff members and the industry representatives.
This initiative is a timely and vital step for Sri Lanka, set to significantly promote research and clinical trials in herbal pharmaceutical industries. It highlights the importance of Sri Lanka’s rich traditional medicine and Ayurveda heritage, not only for the nation but also on a global scale.
