Dean’s List and Faculty Awards Ceremony 2025

The Dean’s List and Faculty Awards Ceremony 2025 of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, was organized to recognize and celebrate the academic excellence, dedication, and outstanding achievements of students of the Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) and Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) degree programmes.

The ceremony was held on 21 August 2026 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. The event brought together the Dean, academic and administrative staff, and students to honour students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance and excellence.

The Dean’s List Awards recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, while the Faculty Awards acknowledge excellence in diverse areas including academic achievement, leadership, research, extracurricular activities, and other talents.

The ceremony commenced with the academic procession, followed by the National Anthem and Faculty Song and the traditional lighting of the oil lamp. The programme included a welcome address by Prof. N. Fahamiya, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, followed by the address of the Chief Guest, Prof. S. P. Molligoda, Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine. Certificates were subsequently presented to the award recipients, followed by Dr. J.M. Dahanayake’s vote of thanks and a group photograph with refreshments.

A significant number of students achieved First Class results from both BAMS (40 students) and BUMS (20 students) programmes were recognized on the Dean’s List 2025, with awardees from the First Professional, Second Professional, and Final Professional examinations.

The Faculty Award 2025 was presented to Ms. A.S.S. Warnakulasooriya, a student of the Final Professional BAMS 2020/2021 batch, in recognition of her outstanding overall performance.

In their messages, the Vice Chancellor and Dean emphasized that these achievements represent not only intellectual ability but also commitment, self-discipline, responsibility, integrity, and perseverance. They also acknowledged the important contributions of academic and non-academic staff, mentors, parents, and families in supporting students throughout their academic journey.

The Faculty of Indigenous Medicine congratulates all award recipients for their remarkable achievements and encourages them to continue striving for excellence and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of Ayurveda, Unani medicine, and healthcare.
