
Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Short Internship Training on Wellness Tourism Programme – 2nd Intake & 5th Anniversary Celebration of Karunakarala Ayurveda and Yoga Institute, Japan
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the Second Intake of the Short Internship Training on Wellness Tourism Programme was held in conjunction with the 5th Anniversary of the Karunakarala Ayurveda and Yoga Institute on 18th October 2025 at the Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort.
Twelve students from the Final Professional (2018/2019 Academic Year) BAMS program were recognised and awarded certificates during the event.
This internship program is a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, and Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort, Japan. Established under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 11th August 2023, the program is designed to provide comprehensive internship training, foster research collaborations, and promote extension programs in the field of indigenous medicine between Sri Lanka and Japan.
A total of 36 students participated in the second intake, where they gained practical exposure to Ayurveda-based wellness tourism through interactive sessions and skill development activities. The program aims to enhance participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and professional attitudes in the growing field of wellness tourism.
Dean, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, faculty coordinator to the International Office, UoC, Professor Kaumadi Karunagoda and Faculty career guidance unit coordinator Dr Himalee De Silva represented the faculty.
