
Inauguration Ceremony for the Certificate Courses
The inauguration ceremony for the Certificate Course in Acupuncture (1st Intake), Certificate in Ayurveda Pharmacy (3rd Intake), and Certificate in Herbal Cosmetic Product Development (2nd Intake) was held on 8th March 2025 at the Mini Auditorium, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Ni Lishen, Director of the China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, delivered an insightful speech highlighting the importance of global partnerships in the advancement of traditional medicine and cultural exchanges between Sri Lanka and China. The Guest of Honour, Professor Nimal Punyasiri, Professor and Chair of Biochemistry at the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Colombo, and Former Director of Research & Development at Nature’s Beauty Creations Ltd., then addressed the audience and shared valuable insights on the development of herbal cosmetics and the adverse effects of whitening creams available in the Sri Lankan market. He emphasized the importance of natural herbal formulations.
Following the guest speeches, a tokens of appreciation were presented to both the Chief Guest, Mr. Ni Lishen, and the Guest of Honour, Professor Nimal Punyasiri, in recognition of their valuable contributions and presence at the event.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean-FIM, Dr.Parakrama Premachandra, Director – National Ayurveda Teaching Hospital, Borella, Professor SKMK Herapathdeniya, Head of the Department of Ayurveda Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Community Medicine, and Professor KPKR Karunagoda, Head of the Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Pediatrics, Dr.DAL Munasinghe, Coordinator for the short Courses-FIM, Dr. JM Dahanayake, Coordinaotr-Ayurveda Pharmcy (4th Intake), Dr. LDR De Silva, Coordinator- Certificate in Acupuncture, Dr.PANG Perera, Coordinator – Ayurveda Pharmacy (3rd Intake), Dr.KNA Dharmasena, Coordinator, Certificate in Herbal Cosmetic Product Development (2nd Intake), other relevant academics and non-academic staff of FIM.
The distribution of handbooks for participants took place providing essential course materials to the participants.
The ceremony officially concluded followed by post-ceremony refreshments allowing guests and participants to network and engage in discussions.
