University of Colombo Ayurveda Clinical Society

The University of Colombo Ayurveda Clinical Society (UCACS) is a student-led organization operating under the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine at the University of Colombo. Guided by its motto, “Wisdom and Knowledge through Nature,” UCACS is dedicated to enriching the academic journey of students by providing unique opportunities to engage in research and elective clinical placements. The society serves as a platform to deepen students’ understanding of Ayurveda and traditional healing practices, fostering a holistic approach to medical education grounded in nature and heritage.

Function: The UCACS serves as a platform for students to learn about various specialized areas within the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, as well as the research and elective opportunities they offer.

Events: The society plays a vital role in bridging classroom learning with real-world applications by organizing a range of academic and extracurricular activities. These include:

  • Workshops and Seminars
  • Guest Lectures by Experts in the Field
  • Journal Clubs and Research Discussions
  • Student Research Opportunities
  • Public Health and Community Outreach Initiatives

Through these initiatives, UCACS introduces students to various departments within the faculty, helping them explore available research projects and elective placement opportunities. The society fosters a collaborative environment where students can cultivate their clinical skills, deepen their understanding of Ayurvedic practices, and contribute to evidence-based traditional medicine.

Membership: The UCACS is open to all BAMS students within the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine.

Location: The Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, located at New Parliament Road, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka.
