Admission
IIM admits qualified students to the following undergraduate programmes .
- BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery ) – Duration 6 years(Including 5 year Academic studies and 01 year Internship )
- BUMS (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery ) – Duration 6 years(Including 5 year Academic studies and 01 year Internship )
student should possess the Certificate of G.C.E. (A/L) in Bio- science stream and should conform to the criteria recommended by the University Grants Commission for admission to the university.
A student who wishes to read the bachelor’s Degree should not suffer from any mental or physical disability that may hinder the duties of medical profession. Students are required to prove them selves as physically and mentally fit after a medical examination. The Institute will conduct this medical examination.

Overview of Syllabus
The curriculum consists of Ayurveda Medicine and basic concept of Allopathic Medicine. In the syllabus basic, clinical and pre – clinical, para- clinical subjects are included.
Duration of the Course
The degree programme is a six year, fulltime course. Main course is conducted over a period of five years at the Institute. After the successful completion of the examination of fifth year, one-year internship at the Ayurvedic Hospitals and with eminent traditional practitioners’ should be completed.
This Programme is liable to be amended from time to time. The decisions taken by the Senate of the Colombo University will be the final with regard to any such amendments, or any other problems arising in the implementation of the programme.
