The Ayurveda Medical Clinic – Katharagama Kiriwehera 2023
The Ayurveda Medical Clinic – Katharagama Kiriwehera is held annually at Kataragama pilgrimage site in the month of July in every year parallel to Kataragama pilgrim season. This is one of the major community based student activity conducted by the Indigenous Medical Students in every year. By conducting this Medical Camp, it is expected to serve the medical needs of general public who arrive at Kataragama pilgrimage site and serve the pilgrims or devotees arrive to Kataragama on foot pilgrimage ( Pàda Yàthrà) during the Esala procession season. This was the seventh consecutive year to conduct this programme.
The Subcommittee of Promulgation of Ayurveda of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo organized an Ayurveda Medical Clinic at the Katharagama Pilgrimage site, on the 2nd and the 3rd of July, 2023. This was organized by the Indigenous Medical Students’ Committee, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo under the guidance of the Dean of FIM – UOC Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Permanent Students’ Counsellor Senior Lecturer Dr. Saroja Weerakoon, Lecturer (Probationary) Dr. P. A. S. N. Silva. Academic staff members joined with the students project this time were Lecturer Dr. K. K. V. S. Peshala, Lecturer (Probationary) Dr. K. D. Manori, Lecturer (Probationary) Dr. H. L.N. R. Pradeep, lecturer (Probationary) Dr. S. P. A. S. Nishan, Demonstrator Dr. Shehan Viduranga and Dr. Srimal Dilmika.
Ayurveda Medical Clinic one of the signature community based student projects in FIM held at Katharagama Kiriwehera on the 2nd and the 3rd of July 2023 was a huge success and more than 2500 patients benefitted by this clinic.
