Screening and Care of Diabetic Foot – Department of Unani Clinical Medicine
Remarking the World Diabetic Day on 14th of November 2023, an awareness programme on Screening and Care of Diabetic Foot was organized by Dr. (Mrs.) A.M.Muthalib, Head, Department of Unani Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo on 6th of December 2023 from 9.00am to 12.00pm at Free Ayurvedic Dispensary (FAD), Slave Island, Colombo, with the supervision and support of Professor. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo. Academic members of Department of Unani Clinical Medicine, Medical Officers of FAD, Demonstrators and the students of Final Professional BUMS (2017/2018) were the part of this programme. The session was lined up with giving awareness on Diabetic Foot Care, Diabetic Foot Complications, Risk Assessment, Proper Footwear Selection, Daily Foot Inspection, Foot Hygiene, Physical Activity and Foot Health, Pressure Relief and Wound Management. Proper Foot Massage Techniques were demonstrated by the students of Final Professional BUMS (2017/2018) to the participants under the guidance of lecturers. Hence, the students had an opportunity to get hands on experience.
