Observing the ‘’World Malaria Day’’
Theme: “Time to deliver, zero malaria: invest, innovate, implement”
World Malaria Day is an internationally recognized event observed annually on April 25th and the main purpose of observing the World Malaria Day is to raise awareness about malaria, mobilize resources to fight the disease, and celebrate progress in malaria control and prevention efforts.
Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine (FIM), University of Colombo organized a special event with undergraduates BAMS/BUMS students’ of 2020/2021 academic year to observe World Malaria Day with collaboration of the Department of Ayurveda Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Community Medicine and the Department of Unani Pharmacology, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo at Ayurveda National Hospital, Borella on 02nd of May 2024 from 10.00 am – 11.00 am. The event aimed to provide awareness about the practical implementation of herbal mosquito repellents and preparation of Dhooma (smoke) to repel Malaria mosquitoes conducted by Prof. SKMK Harapathdeniya, Head/ the Department of Ayurveda Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Community Medicine, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
Event was successfully completed with the guidance of the Dean of faculty – Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dr. (Mrs.) R.H.S.K. De Silva – Coordinator of CGU, FIM and Dr. HLNR Pradeep – Secretory of CGU, FIM. The lecturers who participated for the programme, Dr. (Mrs.) ND Kodithuwakku – Head of the IT unit and her staff, Mr.GSK Perera and Mr. HAR Udayanga are also being reminded.
The event was coordinated by Dr. (Mrs.) Sahani Weerasekara, Lecturer (Probationary), Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
