A Medical Health Clinic was successfully organized by the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, in collaboration with the Past Teachers’ Association of Musaeus College, on the 2nd of October 2025, from 8.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., at the Medical Centre premises of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo for the teachers who served Musaeus College. This event was organized as a commemoration of World Elders’ Day 2025, emphasizing the value of health, care, and respect for senior citizens.
The past teachers of Musaeus College attended the clinic, where they received Ayurvedic medical consultations and health guidance. The event also provided an opportunity for the Faculty to extend its service to the community while appreciating the lifelong dedication of teachers.
The undergraduates of the 2019/2020 Academic year, particularly those attached to the Kaya Chikithsa clinical groups, actively participated in the clinic. It served as an excellent opportunity for them to enhance their clinical exposure and hands-on learning experience under the supervision of experienced academic staff.
The success of this event was made possible through the guidance, encouragement and invaluable support of the Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera and the dedicated coordination, insightful inspiration and invaluable support of the Career Guidance Unit (CGU) Coordinator, Senior Lecturer Dr. R.H.S.K De Silva, Heads of Departments, academic and non-academic staff, demonstrators, and students who worked collaboratively to ensure its smooth organization. Their enthusiasm and commitment were instrumental in making this event a memorable and successful initiative.
Many academic members of the Faculty also volunteered their valuable time for patient consultations and mentoring of students throughout the session.
This meaningful initiative not only marked the celebration of World Elders’ Day 2025 but also strengthened the Faculty’s community engagement and provided a practical learning platform for students reflecting the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to service, education and holistic health promotion.
The event was coordinated by Dr. (Mrs.) R. L.Y.U Rathnayake and Dr. (Mrs.) S.K.A.C.S Senanayake.
