Educational Tour to SDM College, India: Enhancing Practical Knowledge in Panchakarma and Naturopathy
The Department of Kayachikitsa and Deshiya Chikitsa at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, has organized an educational program for postgraduate scholars in Postgraduate Diploma in Panchakarma (2024/2025). This expanded curriculum aimed to enhance students’ practical knowledge and skills in holistic healthcare, integrating Panchakarma and Naturopathy. Recommended by the Dean of the Faculty and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, the program was being conducted in collaboration with Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College of Ayurveda & Hospital in Hassan, ranked as the 4th best Ayurveda college in India in 2024, from October 21st to 25th, 2024.
In addition to SDM College, students visited “Kshemavana” Naturopathy Hospital in Bangalore to experience a range of naturopathy including mud therapy, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, music therapy, and dietotherapy, etc. The group also visited the Himalaya Wellness Company to explore advancements in Ayurvedic product development. This exposure to modern applications of Ayurveda will broaden students’ knowledge, equipping them to make significant contributions to the field.
