Community Outreach Program organized by the Department of Shalya Shalakya & Prasuthi Tantra Kaumarabritya
Department of Shalya Shalakya & Prasuthi Tantra Kaumarabritya, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine have academic strength in four main specialties in Ayurveda. The community outreach program organized by the department included cluster of activities showcasing the abilities of the staff and the students of the faculty with the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera and the Head of the Department, Dr. Kaumadi Karunagoda.
School Nutrition and Health Program was conducted at the Malagala Maha Vidyalaya Kahawala, Padukka.Awareness programs for parents and children on Nutrition, Yoga Session for ordinary level students, Nutrition and Health Checkup for primary school children, Dental and Eye Checkup and given appropriate medical advice to treat the identified conditions.
Simultaneously the Medical Camp was conducted at “Mandula Niwasa” an institute provide care for the disabled male children and adultssituated in Kahawala. The final year undergraduates were keen in interacting with the disabled colouring the event with various creative activities.
The programs were coordinated by the Senior Lecturers of the department Dr. W.A.S.Saroja Weerakoon&Manori Amarajeewa with the team ofstaff members of the department and group of students from 2017/2018 batch.
