CERTIFICATE AWARDING CEREMONY – 2025 , Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo

The Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, proudly hosted the Certificate Awarding Ceremony for the certificate courses completed in the year 2025 on 13 December 2025 at the West Wing Building Auditorium of the faculty.

The ceremony was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor I. M. Karunathilake, and the Dean of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera. Also in attendance were the Heads of Departments, the Coordinator of the Postgraduate and Mid-Career Development Unit, the Deputy Registrar, academic and non-academic staff members, and invited guests.

A total of 159 participants were awarded certificates across 10 certificate courses, namely:

  1. Certificate Course in Astrology – 1st Intake
  2. Certificate Course in Acupuncture – 1st Intake
  3. Certificate Course on Hijama (Cupping Therapy) and Irsal e Alaq (Leech Therapy) – 1st Intake
  1. Certificate course in Ayurveda Psychology – 2nd Intake
  2. Certificate in Herbal Cosmetic Products Development – 2nd Intake
  3. Certificate in Ayurveda Pharmacy – 3rd Intake
  4. Certificate course in Yoga Therapy – 4th Intake
  5. Certificate course in Yoga Therapy -5th Intake
  6. Certificate course in Massage Therapy – 9th Intake
  7. Certificate course in Massage Therapy – 10th Intake

The ceremony commenced with a formal academic procession led by the Vice-Chancellor. In their addresses, both the Vice-Chancellor and the Dean emphasized the University of Colombo’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education that equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to meet future challenges.

Since its establishment as the 10th Faculty of the University of Colombo on 1 March 2023, the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine has placed strong emphasis on engaging with the wider community and enhancing professional competencies in diverse fields related to Indigenous Medicine.

The faculty extends its heartfelt congratulations to all certificate awardees and looks forward to their continued growth and meaningful contributions towards the advancement of Indigenous Medicine at both national and global levels.
