Celebration of World Children’s Day – 2024 : As a social commitment program of final Professional undergraduates
A productive and colorful program for celebrating of World Children’s Day – 2024 was held at the Professorial Unit – Kaumarabhritya, (Pediatric ward- No. 01) of National Ayurvedic Teaching Hospital, Rajagiriya on 1st October 2024 from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm for the OPD & IPD child patients. This project was organized according to the action plan-2024 by the Department of Shalya Shalakya & Prasuti Tantra Kaumarabhritya of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo together with Department of Molijat and Doctors, Staff, and intern medical officers of Professorial Unit of Kaumarabhritya/ with the active participation of BAMS & BUMS final Professional students of FIM.
Dean of the Faculty- Prof. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Head of the Department – Professor Kaumadi Karunagoda, Head of the Molijat Department – Dr. Asha Mutalib, Director of the Hospital-Dr. Parakrama Hemachandra and other Administrative staff of the Hospital and Professors, Senior lecturers of the faculty were the special invitees.
Many Mindfulness and Stress Relieving events such as Yoga program, introduction of traditional foods, Talent show of IPD and OPD patients, Performance of some activities (short drama, songs, dances and health awareness) have been conducted for the child patients, mothers of the patients by the undergraduates of the faculty. Further a lunch and valuable gifts were offered for them by well-wishers.
Senior Lecturers of Kaumarabhritya and Ilmul Atfal ; Dr. Saroja Weerakoon, Dr. IAM Leena, Dr. Senani Kalawana, Dr. Faslul Haq coordinated the event and guided students.
