Celebration of International Women’s Day 2026

A women’s health and wellness program was conducted at the Ayurveda National Hospital on 11th March 2026 to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026.

The program included yoga and meditation sessions for the residential patients of the Streeroga Prasutithantra Ward of the hospital. The sessions aimed to promote physical and mental well-being among women receiving treatment.

Two guest lectures were delivered during the event. Dr. Sepalika Sudasinghe, Additional Director General of Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA), delivered a talk on “Empowering Women is a Social Responsibility.” Another lecture titled “Reproductive and Life-Stage Health Maintenance through Ayurveda” was delivered by Dr. Dayani Siriwardana, former Senior Academic, Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo .

This program was collaboratively organized by the Streeroga Prasutithantra Unit of the Ayurveda National Hospital, Borella, and the Ayurveda Gynecology and Obstetrics Professorial Unit of the Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo.
