Celebration of Global Breastfeeding Week – August 2025

Celebrating the Global Breastfeeding Week in the month of August 2025, the Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics organized a workshop in Collaboration with the Career Guidance Unit of Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Pathirage Kamal Perera, Head of the department Prof. Kaumadi Kaunagoda and the coordinator of the CGU dr. Himalee de Silva. The theme of the workshop was ‘Recent Research and advances on Breastfeeding’ as a Guidance to Ayurveda Community Medical Field, and which was planned under the SDG 2 aims to achieve “zero hunger”.

Dr. Nipuni Amarasinghe from the Medical Nutrition Unit of Castle Street Hospital for Women was the resource person and it was held as an interactive session with 150 BAMS and BUMS 3rd professional 2018/19 students on 27.08.2025 from 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm in the faculty.
