First round of the Inter-Faculty Singing Competition for FIM students

The first round of the Inter-Faculty Singing Competition for FIM students was successfully held on 25th February 2025 at the LT2 Lecture Hall. The Inter-Faculty Singing Competition was organized by the Arts Council & Music Circle of University of Colombo together with Cultural Centre; and aimed to unveiled the musical talents from different faculties and foster a spirit of camaraderie among students. A total of 33 students from various batches enthusiastically have taken part in the competition. The event featured only Solo performances, covering a wide range of musical genres, including classical, folk, and contemporary music. The performances were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including

  • Manjula Senevirathne (Visiting Lecturer, Department of Performing Arts, Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo),
  • Geethika Abeysekara (Visiting Lecturer, Department of Performing Arts, Sri Palee Campus, University of Sri Jayawardenapura),
  • S.P. Molligoda (Department of Basic Principles, Ayurveda Anatomy & Physiology, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine),
  • Asoka Gunasekara (Department of Basic Principles, Ayurveda Anatomy & Physiology, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine),
  • O.T.M.R.K.S.B. Kalawana (Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology & Gynecology, Obstetrics & Pediatrics, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine)
  • P.A.N.G. Perera (Coordinator – Arts Circle, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine). They assessed the participants based on vocal quality, stage presence, song selection, and overall impact.

The competition witnessed remarkable performances, with students exposing their vocal range and artistic expression. After rigorous evaluation, the judges selected and suggested the students who received marks above sixty five (65) as finalists which was a total of 16.

The first round of the competition held at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine for FIM students was a resounding success, highlighting the musical talents within the faculty and the University as well. The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants, judges, and the audience for their support. The next round is set to take place on, promising even more thrilling performances.
