IMFSU being the sole representative and central student body, coordinates activities between batches and societies ensuring the smooth functioning of the daily faculty work in collaboration with other societies and student clubs.

IMFSU acts as the sole intermediate student body represents the faculty student population at Faculty Board meetings and presents student considerations. Thus, IMFSU coordinates correspondence between faculty administration and students as well as with relevant medical professionals.
IMFSU is a vibrant organization dedicated to promoting the welfare and development of indigenous medical students. The union serves as a platform for students to unite, share knowledge, and preserve their cultural heritage while pursuing their medical education.
IMFSU is committed to the academic excellence of students by organizing educational assistance programs for various groups before the commencement of examinations and semesters. Furthermore, IMFSU organizes clinical discussions which help the clinical knowledge component of the students.
IMFSU has also focused on inculcating ethical values and medical professional behavior among the students, accomplished through student lectures and demonstrations from the first year onwards.
IMFSU conducts motivational programmes for students to promote their mental well-being. Through these educational services, IMFSU plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic and professional growth of Indigenous medical and health students, helping them excel in their studies, integrate traditional and modern healthcare practices, and prepare for successful careers in the medical field.
Educational conversations such as Samiksha, Isiwara Suyamaya are powerful tools for enhancing learning, fostering personal and professional growth, and promoting a deeper understanding of complex topics. They provide opportunities for critical thinking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas, all of which contribute to a more effective and enjoyable learning experience.
The Indigenous Medical Students’ Union has been actively organizing a series of welfare activities aimed at supporting the well-being of Indigenous medical students.
- By representing canteen committee meetings IMFSU regulates quality food provision for students and by engaging in regular canteen inspection, ensures hygienic food preparation and storage and assures the distribution at favourable prices for students. Furthermore, IMFSU participates in library committee meetings and takes suggestions from students to improve and maintain high-quality library facilities for students.
- Financial assistance for students & donations of medical instruments are also provided through IMFSU by directing needy students to scholarships provided by the programme
- IMFSU furthermore maintains lockers for students ensuring convenience in the academic work.
