Breast Cancer Awareness Program for Non-Academic Staff of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo
Breast cancer is a major global health issue, affecting both men and women. In Sri Lanka, it has become the most common cancer among females, posing a significant public health challenge. The rising incidence highlights the need for increased awareness, early detection, and effective healthcare interventions.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Program for the Non-Academic Staff of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo, was successfully held on October 22, 2024, at the Faculty Auditorium. This workshop was organized by Dr. (Mrs.) A. M. Muthalib, Head of the Department of Unani Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine.
Prof. Kaumadi Karunagoda, Acting Dean and Head of the Department of Ayurveda Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology and Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics and Dr. A. Fazmiya Joonus, Senior Lecturer, served as the resource persons for the program. Dr. M. H. Faslul Haq, Senior Lecturer, successfully coordinated the program.
This program, specially designed for the non-academic staff of the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, aimed to educate and empower participants regarding breast cancer, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis, and dispelling common myths.
