Inauguration of Certificate course in Herbal Cosmetic Products Development
The inauguration ceremony for the Herbal Cosmetic Products Development Course was held at the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo on 15th June 2024. The event marked the launch of a new educational initiative aimed at providing comprehensive knowledge in herbal cosmetic product development. The ceremony was graced by the chief guest honorable vice chancellor , Senior Professor (Chair) H.D. Karunarathne, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera, Dean, Faculty of Indigenous Medicine, Professor Ankuran Dutta, Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, High Commission of India, Colombo; Mr. Ashoka Hettigoda, Chairman & Managing Director, Hettigoda Industries (Pvt) Ltd; Mrs. Chandani Bandara, Chairperson, Forever Skin Naturals (Pvt) Ltd; along with Professor S.K.M.K. Herapathdeniya, Head, Department of Ayurveda Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Community Medicine, Dr. K.N.A.Dharmasena, Coordinator, Certificate Course in Herbal Cosmetic Products development, esteemed faculty members and prospective students.
The Certificate Course in Herbal Cosmetic Product Development was approved by the Faculty Board, and the 489th Senate on October 2023 under section 5.4.8(A(iv)) of the University of Colombo. The programme is accredited at SLQF exit level 02 and NVQ level 03, comprising a total of 100 lecture and practical hours.
The inauguration ceremony was a successful and inspiring event, setting a positive tone for the launch of the Herbal Cosmetic Product Development Course. The course aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the dynamic and competitive cosmetic industry.
