Undergraduate Research Forum – iCAUST 2025
“Sustaining Nature, Sustaining Health: Innovating for a Better Tomorrow”
The Undergraduate Research Forum of iCAUST 2025 is a dedicated platform aimed at inspiring, supporting, and empowering young researchers and innovators pursuing undergraduate studies in the fields of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Traditional Medicine. This is a part of the International Conference on Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Traditional Medicine (iCAUST 2025), reflecting a commitment to encourage and develop innovation among the next generation of scholars and practitioners.
Faculty of Indigenous Medicine (FIM) of the University of Colombo, a premier higher educational institution in Sri Lankaplays a pivotal role in advancing knowledge and practice in Ayurveda, Unani, and other indigenous medical systems. Initially established as the College of Ayurveda in 1929 and affiliated with the University of Colombo in 1977 as the Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM), it was officially recognized as the 10th Faculty of the University of Colombo on March 1, 2023.
Over the decades, FIM has made significant contributions to academic development, research, innovation, and the creation of valueadded products and services. It has also fostered meaningful collaborations with both national and international institutions.
The Undergraduate Research Forum 2025 builds on this legacy by providing a vibrant and inclusive space for undergraduate students to share their research, explore new ideas, and engage in knowledge exchange. It also acts as a springboard for studentled innovations, start-ups, and entrepreneurial initiatives—particularly within the Ayurveda, Unani, and Siddha sectors.
Through this forum, we aim to cultivate a culture of creativity, scientific inquiry, sustainability, and entrepreneurship—ensuring a healthier and more innovative future rooted in the wisdom of traditional medicine.
